Periphery is an exercise in celebrating the mundane, the forgotten and ignored... the objectsand ephemera that sit in our peripheral vision, in every environment we inhabit.
The initiative revolves around a book, with a quater inch grid on every page (directly relevant to photo sizes). On obtaining the book users recieve a monthly delivery of images from my every growing library of these peripheral objects that I am obsessed with documenting.
Ever present empty space in the book encourages the user to interact with the project by beginning their own collection of imagery based on the objects that they find worthy of note in their own environments.
Users are encouraged to then submit their own images to me which will be re-distributed to other users in the monthly delivery.
The ultimate ambition of the initiative is to encourage users to engage in a 'visual treasure hunt' through their environment.
It aims to inspire joyous celebration and documentation of these mundane objects and spread the delight they evoke in me.
Furthermore, it aims to make the audience re-evaluate their surroundings and view them with a greater possitivity.
